Your FCA Unite the Union Branch
The FCA is one of the only public bodies in the UK without a recognised Union and it’s starting to show.
If our colleagues in the BoE and PSR can unionise, why can’t we? They’ve secured big wins through their union and industrial action. We can too.
Hundreds of our colleagues have joined in the last few months empowering us all, and we invite you to do the same. Join Unite the union online today https://join.unitetheunion.org/.
We’re separate and independent from the SCC and unlike an SCC, a recognised Union has the power to act and negotiate on behalf of all staff. No single one of us can negotiate our new contracts, but together we stand a chance!
Make the FCA a better regulator and a fairer place to work
Joining a Union can make a tangible difference to our pay, benefits, and work conditions. We stand for:
Faire pay for the lowest paid. Everyone in a Grade should be entitled to the proposed higher minimum pay of their band.
Compensation for pay cuts. What they call a ‘bonus’ is really discretionary pay. The change means real and deep pay cuts for most of us. Existing staff should not have to pay for the new bonus scheme.
Equal pay for equal work. We firmly believe that colleagues in Edinburgh and future offices should get the same pay for the same work. This applies to Graduates and apprentices as well!
Bridging the race and gender gap. These proposals risk widening discrimination at the FCA when we should be closing the gap.
Fair performance reviews. ‘Grading to the curve’ a tried and tested way to increase structural discrimination. Other public bodies and financial firms have ditched it, so should we.
No to the health premium. A flat contribution to health benefits isn’t fair to our lowest paid staff.
If the FCA won’t initiate a ballot on recognition, staff can force one through a petition. Whether you’re a member or not, sign up for the right to be represented by a recognised union. FCA recognition (unitetheunion.org)
